The Lambeth Community Assembly will bring together residents from across the borough to discuss the issues affecting their communities, develop shared recommendations and help shape decisions in Lambeth.
The first Assembly will focus on housing, including homelessness, temporary accommodation, repairs, rising rents, housing insecurity and tenant power.

Representation matters.
We want the Lambeth Community Assembly to reflect the full diversity of the borough, not only those who are already politically active, have the most free time or feel most confident speaking in public.
Residents are being selected from two main sources:
We randomly selected 125 postcodes in Lambeth and knocked on the doors within them, inviting people to take part. Most participants will come through this (2 of every 3).
Community Groups throughout Lambeth are advertising the assembly to their contacts. Around 1 in every 3 people is expected to come through this method.
Participants will be chosen through a fair process known as sortition. This is a form of random selection that also considers factors such as ward, age, ethnicity, income, disability, housing situation and lived experience. This helps us create an Assembly that broadly reflects the communities that make up Lambeth.

How are people chosen to take part?
Online registration alone is not enough to reach everyone. We will also be door-knocking on at least five roads in each of Lambeth’s 25 wards, speaking directly to residents and inviting them to register.
We will work with estates, tenants’ groups, schools, youth organisations, faith groups, community centres and local organisations to ensure people from across Lambeth have an opportunity to take part.

Support to take part
We know that residents may have caring responsibilities, disabilities, access needs, language requirements or financial barriers.
Where possible, the Assembly will provide financial and practical support to selected participants. This may include compensation for their time, travel assistance, childcare support, interpretation, translated materials and accessibility arrangements.
Our aim is to remove as many barriers as possible so that residents can participate fully and confidently.
